🎙️Hauntings at the Homestead-New Podcast!

Hey there friend!

I’ve got a fun podcast episode for you this week. I’ve been asked directly and in round about ways if our home is “haunted.” For some reason the word “haunted” seems dark and unfriendly and this home is certainly opposite from that. Many of the Wehr family members were born in our home and came back at an older age where they did pass away here and community members would come to pay respect to the deceased in the parlor, otherwise known today as our bedroom (Ha!). It was very common to for the elderly to return home and be cared for by their family as there were not assisted living/retirement facilitates back then making it a common practice to return home.

Since moving in, we have encountered some interesting things around the homestead. Occurrences that couldn’t be denied while others have made us pause in question. When these occurrences began after moving in, I reached out to past residents and sure enough they too had experiences such as hearing such as clanging buckets and seeing a man inside the home. Tune in to today’s podcast to hear what our family has encountered over the past four years!

Happy Halloween!

Xo,

New this week on Grounded in the middle podcast

Johnny + Christina Cison-What it's like to go against the grain. Grounded in the Middle.

Have you ever heard of the Old House community? If you aren't familiar, there is a large social media community who own or just love old houses and every day they gather around the world to chat about their experiences and share what they've learned about restoring and living in their old house. In today's episode, you're going to get to meet Johnny and Christian from the account @ourcornerofcurrituck and who were also one of my first old house friends when we moved out here to the middle. They are opening up today on why they chose to leave suburbia and their new build home for old house life and homesteading. Where to read my latest work

This past week Link2Us Magazine published their Fall ’22 issue and it includes an article I wrote titled, Reawakening Traditions at the Homestead. While my article will give you a peek into our holiday traditions, you will also learn of the traditions that came before us! You can request a digital copy here or you can pick up a copy at your local Barnes and Nobles, Kroger, Books a Million, Fred Meyers stores, Albertsons, Hyvee, Kmart, and Amazon.

In addition, you can also read another article I wrote, Restoration in the Farmhouse, about how we found our way out here to the country on Make Me Available which is a website out of London, England. You can click here to read.
