Restoration

Hey there, friend!

Do you ever find yourself running into a word time and time again. This past week, the word “restored” kept catching my attention. So, I decided to dig into the word a bit and share it with you in case you too find yourself in the middle of restoration.

In the Merrium Webster Dictionary, it defines restored as:

  1. Give Back, Return
  2. :to put or bring back into existence or use
  3. :to bring back to or put back into a former or original state: RENEW
  4. :to put again in possession of something

As an old house steward, I have been asked if we are renovating or restoring our 1837 farmhouse. For my husband and I, we have chosen to restore and preserve as much as possible. As we have completed projects around the homestead, there have been times when we have had to remove a layer that wasn’t true to the house in order to restore it back to how it originally was. Then sometimes we find ourselves putting something back that had been taken away.

Since returning to the country with my family, this old house has been a teacher for me. It has taught me that sometimes we have to remove layers that were never ours to wear or no longer serve us anymore. It also has shown me that revisiting past passions or aspirations is sometimes a way in which we can be renewed. Restoring us into who we are meant to be today.

As you move through this week, I invite you to consider how you have been restored or how you might give something back to yourself that could lead you on a path towards restoration.

Shop Kerusso Clothing Co.

This past week, my friends at Kerusso sent over an awesome long-sleeved tee and tumbler that I’m super obsessed with. But as fun as the products were, the scripture on both met me where I was that day and I hope they will reach you where you are today, whatever middle you may find yourself in. Shop here.

The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. -Isaiah 58:11
